Do Scott Rogers no twitter (@mightybedbug):

New name, de-meeplification, box and board updates.
Hello everyone,
So we have a pretty major update for you today. Long story short, we need to change the name of the game. We have unfortunately received a ‘cease and desist’ email from a company asking us to remove all references to ‘meeples’ from the game as they have registered the word (and the shape) as an intellectual property in the EU.
We were a little surprised as the term is used so frequently in the hobby. We thought Meeples belonged to all board gamers, it appears they don't. We of course have zero interest in using anyone else’s IP so we think the best option is to do as they ask. Fortunately, whilst it creates a fair amount of work for us in the short term, this will not affect the game very much - all gameplay will remain exactly the same and the artwork will only be changed to replace the meeples with our new characters…. Mumans! … But more on them in a moment.
New Name
As the game now obviously can’t be called Meeple Inc we will be changing the title of the game. The new title will be… Tabletop Inc! We think this name explains in two words exactly what it is you’ll be doing in the game, possibly even more clearly than Meeple Inc did
