FREE Solo mode expansion for our backers
Dear Backers,
Our campaign is going well and soon we will unlock the second SG when reaching 35k.
The main reason for this update is that we have a big surprise for you. At the beginning of the campaign, the solo variant was immediately suggested by you. We were happy to see that since we have been working on the solo mode for a while. Now we think we are ready to reveal it with some more details.
And that is not all. The best part is that we will include the solo variant rulebook and components inside the Kickstarter copies by default for FREE, only for our backers during this campaign.
Solo mode
Note: The solo mode can be played as a classic solo game or even 2-3 players can play it as a variant.
About the AI.
- Challenging. The AI not simply scores, it also scales with the player’s actions. It means the more actions you take, the more actions the AI takes as well.
- Use and collect the resources and action markers in a different way.
- It follows different but simple rules during its actions.
- The AI uses a priority system on the map. It doesn’t collect or use development points in the classic way.
- The AI has all of its men from the beginning of the game and builds campsites differently.
How it is played?
Winter
The main setup is the same, we only need to set up the AI by using a non-playing player colour, an AI board and 12 AI tiles.
Spring
Example: Hunting action during the spring
The AI will get income as usual, but it will place the resources on its decision wheel according to the resource’s colour.
The 1st player (or the solo player) is the starting player and has to pay the price for the action onto the AI board during the actions.
The AI has 2 or 3 actions depending on the number indicated on the middle of the actual AI tile. It will play the action which is next to the box where the most markers are. 1 marker will move onto the main board next to the action’s icon as always.
Summer
Example: Hunting action during the summer
It works the same way like the usual rules, but the 1st player has to place the action markers onto the AI board during the actions.
The AI will do actions on all action locations where it has more than 3 markers next to the action’s box. It always plays 3 action markers to the common supply.
Autumn
Example: Currently the campsite building is its 1st priority.
The AI can move with up to 6 of its men on the map. It always chooses the man closest to the base camp, and he it moves according to the AI board’s prioritized direction (where the most markers are in the box). It tries to find the closest item that fits in its actual priority on the map in that direction. If there isn’t any, it tries to find the next item, etc. After the move, all markers are removed from the used box. Then the AI moves onto its next man. Once there is no more used man on the map or no more markers on the AI board, it stops.
The item priority changing by getting development points. The priority goes in a clockwise direction starting by the player marker's position.
Of course, this is just a brief overview about the rules. We have the rules developed for all actions and for the exceptions where the AI cannot decide. Before the end of the campaign we will share the fully translated rules only with our backers.
That is all for now. But we should give a name to the AI. What do you think? What would be the best naming for it? Feel free to tell us your opinion in the comments below.
Thank you and best wishes,
The A-games team
