box size: Similar to Caverna
is Uwe's new heavy weight game, planned for Essen 2015. It combines puzzle elements with hardcore worker placement (round about 70 action spaces for your workers). The game will include some dice rolling to represent the excitement of viking adventures. Uwe explains, that bad luck in rolling will not actually hurt your overall achievements but will only slow you down a little bit. So luck will actually play a minor role in this one.
You will be filling up your personal game board with puzzle tiles which represent trading goods (achieved through "game hunting", "whale fishing", etc.) . Through "trading" players will be able to convert lower level puzzle pieces (orange, red) into higher level puzzle pieces (green, blue). Only last can be used to put them on your personal gameboard. You can use these to cover up the board from bottom left to upper right. This will help u cover up numbers on the board wich will then increase your regular money income. You are not allowed to put puzzle pieces of the same color next to each other but you will be allowed to put coins (victory points) on your player board in order to fill up gaps. You are allowed to cover up certain spaces (e.g. forrests) but if you are able to completely surround them with puzzle tiles, they will give you a new source of every turn income (trade goods).
Lower level goods can be used to place them on "farm" houses in order to generate food which will be needed at the end of each round in order to feed your people.
Additionally you will be able to travel to far away islands. Once you discovered these places you (and only you - first come first serve) get an additional board on which u can place your puzzle pieces. By surrounding specific places you can generate additional income of specific goods (see above). If no one travels to a certain destination within a certain number of rounds these boards will be turned around to be replaced by other islands. (the actual differences have not been discussed)
In the middle you can find some special goods (Thor's hammer, drinking horn)
Understood?
Best regards
Sven
